the future’s already here, it’s just not evenly distributed
AI won’t take your job, somebody using AI will
I won’t teach you to fish, I’ll teach you to teach AI how to fish
Synthian is an AI-native consulting agency who helps drive personal and cultural adoption of AI in individuals, teams, and organizations of all shapes and sizes. We believe AI is both the most powerful AND easiest to adopt technology in history. There’s a lot of noise out there: new tools daily and models monthly; warnings of armageddon or promises of utopia; “secret prompt" spells for sale. Luckily, it’s pretty simple. Firstly, you already know how to use AI because all you have to do is pretend it’s a person. You’ll make it as accessible as possible, always 1 click/button away, and learn it’s true capabilities. You’ll no longer search through endless Google links or wait hours for a response from an expert. You’ll develop a close and ever-evolving relationship with the AI, knowing its strengths and weaknesses, when to trust and doubt.
AI will let you do more, better, in less time, with more satisfaction and growth. Every individual is now a team, every contributor a manager, every specialist has a generalist and every generalist their specialists.
There’s no need to fear, for all you need to prepare yourself for the AI world is the right mindset and a few habit shifts. The future is already here, it’s just not evenly distributed.
Our goal is to help people become comfortable with, adopt, and integrate AI tools to supercharge their everyday lives. From professionals & companies supercharging their productivity and abilities, to students and schools adopting a new style of learning, to parents and families preparing for a new future. AI is the takeoff point of the Information Revolution. The Cognitive Revolution brought humans the brains we have today. The Agricultural Revolution brought us the security of our next meal. The Industrial Revolution brought us the ability to get anything, anytime, anywhere. The Information Revolution is bringing us the ability to know, do, and become whatever we dream. Every revolution provides individuals with exponentially more leverage and potential: it is the age of The Sovereign Individual, where those with the right ideas, will, and tools can have greater impact than ever before. OpenAI founder Sam Altman has postulated it's only a matter of time until the first 1 person, $1 billion business (beating Instagram’s 19 people).
Now let’s bring it back to earth. This kinda talk can make it all a bit overwhelming and mysterious. Luckily, is be the easiest technology to adopt yet. It's nothing new. In fact, it’s just simulated humans. In-short, these AIs are trained on the whole of the internet. It studied ~all written human knowledge and can answer all your questions for the the princely sum of a Chipotle burrito with extra meat and gauc per month. In terms of knowledge, it’s the single smartest entity in existence. Wisest? Not quite yet, but it’s no slouch either (and rapidly improving).
A lot of the AI teaching takes the wrong approach, with narrow scope aimed at solving the problems of yesterday. There’s a joke in the AI community: I write 3 bullet points and ask my AI to expand it into a couple paragraph email. You take my couple paragraph email and ask your AI to summarize it into 3 bullet points. This is using a supercomputer as a paperweight. AI is not a tool to fill the world with more noise, it is to help find and distill truth to take action on. We believe in a holistic approach; beyond “special prompts” and expanding emails, to a new way of tackling any problem in your life, no matter how big or small.
I start with getting people comfortable and integrated with AI in all aspects of their life; work and play, business and personal, collaborative and individual. From that base, we develop increasingly custom solutions that arise internally, from those closest to the metal. I don’t teach men to fish; I teach rowboat fisherman how to use an automated 50-foot trawler. I know the boat, they know where the fish are. My work progresses from generalized to specific to custom.
You need to get in the habit of using AI for everything. A couple decades of Google searching and asking people have formed deep habits. We follow James Clear's Atomic Habits formation framework
